GUIDE TRAINING AT LEOPARD TRAILS

At a time where Sri Lanka’s wilderness areas face many challenges, there is a passion that sets the Leopard Trails team apart: a passion to understand, to inspire, to inform and be informed. We believe that with challenge comes the greatest opportunity!

A safari with Leopard Trails is about reconnecting with nature, and bringing about awareness of the natural world to the many thousands of guests that visit us from across the globe. Last year our team embarked on an intensive internal guide training program to train new guides and upskill existing ones. Guides participated in lectures, video learning, assessment drives, walks, and tests that measured and quantified their progress. And yet, whilst knowledge and delivery is important, there is also a saying that is frequently quoted in the industry but often by rote and without sufficient conviction: the importance of guides being people oriented in their approach to guiding and hosting. Guiding at the highest level, and hosting guests of many different nationalities, and fulfilling their expectations can be challenging, and a people oriented approach is as important as the knowledge of the natural world.

We are now bearing the fruits of our labour and are excited to train new guides in 2018 to make a difference to wildlife tourism and conservation in Sri Lanka. Are you interested in training with our team? Contact us at info@leopardtrails.com
