Male

Kaetegal Wala 2:3 Male (2014) [YM 14/Bahal]

This male cub was first photographed in July 2014, in Jamburagala Road and Kaetegal Wala, showing great confidence in front of the safari jeeps. In November 2014, he was seen near Mahaseelawa.

Female

Karawgas Wala 4:4 Female [YF 14/Geema or Grace]

Karawgas Wala 4:4 female was first photographed in November 2014, around Ūraniya and Karawgas Wala. She was photographed with the Rathmal Wala 4:5 male (Harak Hora/Cattle Thief when it was just a sub-adult male), playing on a rock, in November 2015.

Female

Medha Para 2:4 Female (2005-2014)

She has proven herself as a successful mother by raising her cubs up to adulthood. Those cubs also grew up to be successful mothers with the passage of time. This female was seen originally around Medha Pāra, close to the Karuwala Bōkkuwa in November 2009.

Female

Kaluwara Bōkkuwa 3:4 Female (2017/18)

Kaluwara Bokkuwa 3:4 female was born in late 2017, with her brother. This female grew very shy while her brother became brave and outgoing. Until March 2019, there were only a few sightings of this female around Kaluwara Bōkkuwa, Rawum Wala (in Medha Pāra), Gōnalahaba Ground, Suduwelimulla, and Yāla Wewa.

Male

Jamburagala 4:5 Male [YM 03/Chandare]

He took over the territory of the previous dominant male of the same area, who was the Jamburagala 3:3 male, aka “Ivan” (Eye-One) after he left. He was easily distinguishable due to his highly faded face where patches of fur were missing.

Male

Jamburagala 3:3 Male [YM 02/Pottaya or Eyeone]

Already in his prime when we first saw him in 2009, this impressive male stood out due to his missing left eye. This injury is what caused him to be named Ivan (Eye-One). The southern part of Yāla was run by Ivan and notable areas included the Palatupāna Entrance, Pattiya Wala, Mahaseelawa, Jamburagala, Heen Wewa, Ondaatje Bungalow, Magul Mahā Vihāra, and up to Bambāwa.

Female

Jamburagala 3:2 Female [YF 49/Nora]

Jamburagala 3:2 female was first photographed in November 2017, at the Jamburagala Road. She is not a frequently seen female therefore the existing photographic evidence is not adequate.

Female

Jamburagala 2:4 Female

This young female was first seen and photographed in April 2017, around the Jamburagala area. Surprisingly, there were no more sightings after this initial run-in.

Female

Heen Wewa Bungalow 1:1 Female (2017) [YF 38/Niki]

Heen Wewa bungalow 1:1 female was born in early 2017, around Heen Wewa and the Heen Wewa Bungalow area. Her mother is the Heen Wewa 3:2 female. She was photographed a few times in May 2018, around the same area.
