Leopards of Yala - No sightings for the Last two years

Male

Kotasiyabale 1:1 Male [YM 18/Duke]

This majestic, well-built male was first seen and photographed in late 2014, around the Kotasiyabale area. It seemed like he had authority over a large territory, possibly in block 2 or block 3, given that he rarely visited block 1.

Female

Kotābendi Wewa 2:3 Female (2015) [YF 17/Nova]

When she was photographed for the first time with her mother, the Kotābendi Wewa 1:2 female, she was very young. Roughly about three months old in July 2015. In November 2016, she was photographed with a fawn kill around Kotābendi Wewa.

Male

Kosgasmankada 2:3 Male [YM 12/Hunter]

Due to the pressure from other big males around in his initial territory he had to move to the Southeast of the park. He was such a talented performer as he possessed the skills to make two successful buffalo calf kills around Gōnalahaba Ground in January 2018, and at Yāla Wewa in April 2018.

Male

Korawak Wewa 3:3 Male

Korawak Wewa 3:3 Male has a very peculiar movement pattern. First photographed at Modhara Gala, Sathmaga, and Darshana Wewa. He has also been photographed at Korawak Wewa. He was noted as a very confident leopard.

Female

Korawak Wewa 3:3 Female

Korawak Wewa 3:3 female was first seen and photographed in mid-2015, at Korawak Wewa. Again, in December 2016, she was spotted and photographed. She was a very shy female, even then.

Female

Kohombagas Wala 2:3 Female (2011)

Kohombagas Wala 2:3 female was first photographed in February 2012, near Kotigala. Few sightings were recorded closer to Kohombagas Wala also. There are no further records of her apart from the above sightings.

Male

Kochchipathana 2:2 Male

Kochchipathana 2-2 male was first photographed in March 2017, close to the Kochchipathana Army Barrier at the end of the Katagamuwa Wildlife Sanctuary.

Male

Katagamuwa 3:4 Male [YM 34/Kai]

Katagamuwa 3-4 male was first photographed in March 2018, in the Katagamuwa Buffer Zone. Though he was a confident male, there are no confirmed sightings of this male after that time.

Female

Katagamuwa 3:4 Female

Katagamuwa 3:4 female was first seen and photographed in late 2014, just outside the Katagamuwa Park Entrance in the Katagamuwa Wildlife Sanctuary. Even by that time, she was old.
