Leopards of Yala - No sightings for the Last two years

Kudāseelawa 2:3 Female [YF 04/Maggi]

Kudāseelawa 2:3 female was a regular female around Mahaseelawa, Kudāseelawa, Kotigala, and Ūraniya. In June 2015, she was photographed with a very young cub at Kotigala. But the existing photographic evidence is not enough to draw up a family tree. She was last seen in December 2016, at Mahaseelawa.

Kotigala 3:2 Male [YM 15/Galiver]

Kotigala 3:2 male was a huge male leopard found around the areas of Kotigala, Jamburagala, Ūraniya, Weli Āra, and Mahaseelawa between the period of 2010 -2014. He was last photographed in August 2014, at Weli Āra.

Kohombagas Wala 3:3 Male

Kohombagas Wala 3:3 male was first photographed for identification in October 2006, at Kotigala. He was frequently seen with the big male leopard around the areas of Kotigala, Ūraniya, Kohombagas Wala, and Welmalkema. His last sighting was recorded in 2012.

Katagamuwa 4:4 Female

Katagamuwa 4:4 female was first photographed in the Buffer Zone, close to the Katagamuwa Entrance in September 2017. Then in December 2017, she was seen with the Pahalahenthota 3:3 male around Pahalahenthota and Alikatupalassa. As she is a very shy female, regular sightings were not reported.

Katagamuwa 4:3 female was first photographed in February 2018, in the Katagamuwa Buffer Zone. In October 2020, she was seen once again by the Katagamuwa Wewa.

Y – Junction 2:2 Female 1 (2016) [YF 13/Susan]

Y junction 2:2 female 1 was first seen in August 2016, with her sister, the Y – Junction 2:2 Female 2. The two sisters were the star leopards of the North of block 1 for the year 2017.

Warahana 3:3 Female (2013)

Warahana 3:3 Female is a part of the famous 2013/14 Warahana litter. The very first record of her was in 2013, and once she was independent, she decided not to share her mother’s territory. No sightings were recorded after that. She has not been sighted, since 2015.

Warahana 2:2 Female 1 (2013)

She is one of the sisters of the famous 2013/14 Warahana litter. She shared the same whisker spot ratio as her other sister, the Warahana 2:2 female 2. The third sister was the Warahana 3:3 female. Their Mother is the Warahana 2:3 Female. Her sightings reduced when she became independent from her mother around mid-2015.

Warahana 2:3 Female (2005-2018) [YF 18/Emily]

Warahana 2:3 female is an elusive but confident female. She is a legendary female who was living in the North of Yāla block 1. She made frequent appearances around the North of Yāla block 1 for a very long time.
