Leopards of Yala - No sightings for the Last two years

Female

Buthawa Spill 2:3 Female

Buthawa spill 2:3 female was a well-built female compared to her peers and she was first photographed for identification in August 2010, at Buthawa Spill Road which leads towards the Ākāsa Chethiya.

Male

Buthawa Plain 5:4 Male (2013) [YM 19/Seth]

Buthawa Plain 5:4 male is the brother of Buthawa Plain 4:5 male. However, both brothers are missing since mid-2015. They were seen around Buthawa Plain, Gōnagala, Welmalkema, Kotigala, Buthawa Spill Road, and Siyambalagas Wala.

Buthawa Plain 4:5 Male (2013) [YM 04/Soorya]

Buthawa Plain 4:5 male was a very confident male sighted around the areas of Kotigala, Gōnagala, Welmalkema, Siyambalagas Wala, Buthawa area, and Buthawa Spill Road.

Female

Buthawa 2:3 Female (2014)

This female cub was first photographed in May 2015, around Vihanga Wala. Then in June of the same year, she was seen around the Buthawa Plain. After that, there were no more sightings of her.

Alikatupalassa 2:2 Male 2 (2017/18) [YM 37/Will]

Rumors were circulating about two leopard cubs around the Alikatupalassa campsite area, in early 2018. There was no photographic evidence until November 2018. Alikatupalassa 2:2 male 2 happens to be one of those cubs. (Alikatupalassa 2:2 male 1 is his brother).

Rumors were circulating about two leopard cubs around the Alikatupalassa campsite area, in early 2018. There was no photographic evidence until November 2018. Alikatupalassa 2:2 male 1 happens to be one of those cubs. (Alikatupalassa 2:2 male 2 is his brother).

Alikatupalassa 2:1 Female [YF 41/Wendy]

Alikatupalassa 2:1 female was first seen at the Warahana and Dharshana Wewa Junction area during the months of February and March 2011. She is a confident female but prefers to keep her distance from the jeeps.

Ali Gala 3:4 Female 2 (2016) [YF 08/Mandy]

Ali Gala 3:4 female 2 was first photographed in November 2016, with her sister, the Ali Gala 4:3 female. Their mother was Ali Gala 3:4 female 1. 2017 yielded very little sightings of her. But since the beginning of 2018, she was frequently seen around Pemdas Vila, Sathmaga, and Pemdas Lane.

Ali Gala 3:4 Female 1 [YF 06/Yaso]

Ali Gala 3:4 female 1 was sighted and first photographed for identification in July 2014, at the Ākāsa Chethiya road, as a mature female. She was living around Ali Gala, Ākāsa Chethiya, and Sathmaga at that time.
