Leopards of Yala - Males
Mahaseelawa 4:3 male was born in 2010, in Mahaseelawa with his sisters, the Mahaseelawa 2:2 female and the Mahaseelawa 2:3 female 1. By April 2011, this male cub became so well built and it was seen on the famous Kotigala. But there are no confirmed sightings after 2011.
His immense territory stretched all the way from Warahana in the North of the park down to Patanangala in the South of the park. He got nicknamed “Scarface” because of the scars on his face. He was also fondly known as “Kan Kotā” which means “One with the Short Ears” in Sinhalese.
Sathmaga 3:4 male was born in early 2011, around the Welmalkema area. He managed to survive there and moved North from his birthplace. By 2014, he was seen around the Sathmaga area. He successfully maintained his territory with a few other big males who lived around the Mōdharagala area.
