He is quite easy to identify due to his short tail.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Weli \u0100ra 2:2 male took the territory from the old<\/mark> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leopardtrails.com\/leopardsofyala\/leopards-of-yala\/jamburagala-45-male\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Jamburagala 4:5 male<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">in 2018 (since late 2018, the Jamburagala male was missing), and that territory includes the areas of <strong>Kotigala, Mahaseelawa, Kaetagal Wala, Jamburagala Road, and Weli \u0100ra.<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">He was seen mating with the<\/mark> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leopardtrails.com\/leopardsofyala\/leopards-of-yala\/tanki-gala-12-female\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Tanki Gala 1:2 female<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">in March 2019 at Weli  \u0100ra. This male was seen on the 4th of March 2019, with the<\/mark> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leopardtrails.com\/leopardsofyala\/leopards-of-yala\/mahaseelawa-22-female\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Mahaseelawa 2:2 female<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">and her two little cubs, around B\u014dla Gala in Jamburagala Road. Interestingly, after that sighting, neither Mahaseelawa 2:2 female nor her cubs were ever seen again.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">In October 2020, he was seen together with another young male, the<\/mark> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.leopardtrails.com\/leopardsofyala\/leopards-of-yala\/lolugas-wala-43-male\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">L\u014dlugas Wala 4:3 male<\/mark><\/strong><\/a>, i<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">n Kotigala. He was tolerating this young male&#8217;s presence even at such proximity.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Throughout 2020 &#8211; 2024 he made regular appearances in his territory of <strong>Weli \u0100ra, Mahaseelawa, Kotigala, and Jamburagala Road.<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Yala Leopard Diary database &#8211;<\/mark><\/em> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/yalaleoparddiary.com\/identified-leopard-result\/YM20\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/yalaleoparddiary.com\/identified-leopard-result\/YM20<\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=oa.140099406679582&amp;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=oa.140099406679582&amp;type=3<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Weli = Sand, \u0100ra = stream or river] Weli \u0100ra 2:2 male was first photographed for identification in December 2017, near the Weli \u0100ra Junction.
