Leopards of Yala
Due to the pressure from other big males around in his initial territory he had to move to the Southeast of the park. He was such a talented performer as he possessed the skills to make two successful buffalo calf kills around Gōnalahaba Ground in January 2018, and at Yāla Wewa in April 2018.
Karawgas Wala 4:4 female was first photographed in November 2014, around Ūraniya and Karawgas Wala. She was photographed with the Rathmal Wala 4:5 male (Harak Hora/Cattle Thief when it was just a sub-adult male), playing on a rock, in November 2015.
Kaluwara Bokkuwa 3:4 female was born in late 2017, with her brother. This female grew very shy while her brother became brave and outgoing. Until March 2019, there were only a few sightings of this female around Kaluwara Bōkkuwa, Rawum Wala (in Medha Pāra), Gōnalahaba Ground, Suduwelimulla, and Yāla Wewa.
Kaluwara Bōkkuwa 2:3 male was born in late 2017, with his sister. He grew to be well extroverted while his sister was a bit introverted. By mid-2019, this male cub and his mother started to move towards the South of Yāla block 1. In 2020, he was seen exploring a large area including Ūraniya, Welmalkema, and Kotigala.
Already in his prime when we first saw him in 2009, this impressive male stood out due to his missing left eye. This injury is what caused him to be named Ivan (Eye-One). The southern part of Yāla was run by Ivan and notable areas included the Palatupāna Entrance, Pattiya Wala, Mahaseelawa, Jamburagala, Heen Wewa, Ondaatje Bungalow, Magul Mahā Vihāra, and up to Bambāwa.
